The Absolute Unit formed in the Houston metro area in the summer of 2021, and is made up of musicians from such diverse bands as El Mantis, Fist of Kong, The Defenestration Unit, Sapo Toro, Linus Pauling Quartet, Wyde Roots, and Laktating Yak.
